Posters' names don't apear on iPad mini
« on: 25 April 2014, 12:12:56 PM »
Just that really. Posts appear properly, but unless someone has signed their name at the end of the post, there's no indication of who it's from. No avatar either. Strange - can anyone explain or, even better, solve this ?

Stupid question, but is it possible it's zoomed in a bit? I know on my iPod I can double-tap an area of a webpage and it will automatically zoom in to the appropriate size so that area is all I see. Any chance it has just sized itself to the text of the message and cut off the avatars on the side?

So now you've solved that - do you just happen to know how we download photos from our phones?  Neither of the puters can find a driver for them, and the Samsung site just tells you to download Kies.  So we downloaded it - and now we have it, still haven't a clue what to do with it!  Need an idiot's guide ......

I think the program is just a way of connecting each to the other wirelessly or something.

We used to just plug the phone into the puter using the USB cable supplied, the photos would download themselves into Windows Live whatever, you told them they were jPegs and saved em and that was that.  That was what we'd done when it said no driver.

They are Galaxy Ace Plus GB-S7500 phones.  Special issue for Virgin customers I think.

I had to upload photos I took of the damage to the other car.... just plugged the phone in with the USB cable and Adobe Album starter jumped up and grabbed em.  I wouldn't have known how to otherwise.

How do peeps upload from their phones to FB?

Ok uploading to FB I can do :P In the FB app you have an option to post "status" or "photo" or I forget the other thing (there's 3 options across the top at least in the iOS version). So you can click to post a photo using the photo button. OR if you're writing a status and realize you want to add a photo, you can add a photo from the typing screen - just click the little paperclip and it should pop up with an option to either take a new photo right now or use a photo you already have on there. I only know the iOS version of the mobile app so I can't speak to other versions but I imagine they must be relatively similar?

Sedge I'm afraid I know really very little about Samsung/Android phones! My "mobile device" isn't even a phone, it's just an iPod with wifi capability! And since I have wifi at home and on campus (so that accounts for 95% of my waking hours, LOL) I've just never bothered to get an actual phone.

Did the photos download okay before the driver error popped up? Have you tried it again since? And can you tell (does it say) whether the driver is particularly for the photo capability? I mean perhaps your computer is trying to interact with a particular aspect of your phone unrelated to offloading photos, whenever you plug it in. And you can just say "ok ok I know you can't find the driver" and download the photos anyway?

Aaaaah!  I think that that to upload from a phone to FB you'd have to be browsing with the actual phone?

I've more or less given up trying to use my android phone for browsing except in an emergency e.g trying to find bus/train times when away from home.

I don't want to post to FB LOL

Pete once took a photo of me on this same mobile phone and downloaded it to the same PC, and it's my flipping avatar on FB - the cannula in my tummy one! so that proves irrefutably that it used to work.

Many phone will allow you to ermail yourself (or someone else) a photo that the camera took (as long as you have set up email on the phone... obviously!)
