Hmmm - will have to practice that cos I fall over towards the standing leg and I can't even lift the other foot without tummy muscles, if I do use em the second I try to breathe I lose it!

I think I need to do the challenging walking for a bit before I can get to that stage Nyt, I very seriously am the living definition of flab !

I understand! Here's a trick then, when you do get out for a walk eventually - well I don't know how you actually walk but most people tend to put their feet too close together. Try to swing each leg straight forward instead of diagonal, or you can imagine trying to walk with your feet on either side of a tire track. Just doing that while you walk actually targets the same muscles, and makes the walking easier on the joints but harder on the muscles = more calories used to do it!

Ah, didn't know that!  Ta - that'll be tomorrow then - I'll deliberately park further away from where I'm going than I usually try to.  If I get wringing wet I can blame you LOL  (Although I spose I could take a big brolly, I can always use it as a crutch on the way back !)

Well my postnatal class was cancelled this week so i replaced it with swimming...ok maybe I didnt do lengths but carrying car seat and baby to and from car, getting him in and out of a wetsuit, singing songs and going round in circles with him for half an hour certainly felt like a work out.  I was shattered afterwards.

and 1 walk done. Hopefully there will be a bit of a bit of a break in the weather so i can get 2 walks in over the weekend.

Great going, Feejee! The hardest part is usually just deciding to put your shoes on and go do it - and with a baby that's hard times at least five or six. Leaving the house with a baby is an event in itself! You can't help the weather of course but make the most of it when you can, and if you can get in something indoors on a rainy day instead that's good too. :)  Although of course there si nothing wrong with saying "I just can't do this today" either, cause sometimes you can't!

I have learned that in making these kinds of changes to my life, although setting goals and having a plan is important, it's actually equally important to be able to be flexible sometimes without being too hard on yourself. It's all about coming up with something you can keep up with for life, and no one's life ever works out just perfectly, so being able to accept the imperfections without feeling totally derailed is part of the process! So flexibility in failing to meet goals is just as valuable in some ways as determination to meet them in the first place. Of course you also have to know when to draw the line, "okay, I gave it a miss this week because of finals [or whatever] and that's fine, but I can't go on making excuses about not having time forever, I gotta make the time somewhere!" Tricky stuff.

I will try to update the table once a week probably on Mondays (but we'll see how that works out). So everyone feel totally free to post in thread or PM me about your progress, but so as not to be either constantly rewriting the same table (so then we won't see where we started at the beginning of the week) or constantly posting a new table and cluttering the thread, "official" updates will be weekly-ish.

So far I have done a workout and a walk every day. I was SO SORE yesterday and the day before, I was thinking of making today a rest day. But today it's mostly gone already so I might just carry on. I have to finish grading a big stack of essay exams though, I promised I'd have them done by today at the latest, so I guess it will depend on whether I have time in the end!

Just a reminder, guys, I'll be updating the table a bit later today (have an appointment this morning so I'll do it after I get back). So if you have any new info you want me to put up or if anyone new wants to join in, either post on the thread how your goals have gone this week or PM me! Sami I got yours thanks! :)

I'll be truthful, it's a worthy project I haven't launched myself into.

Must try harder; I recall some other people saying that about me, some time ago now ......

I walked up the hill!! The hill in question is locally known as 'heart attack hill' because of the incline. And when I walk home from work I have 66 steps to go up and then this hill, and then the rest of my journey. It normally takes me 40mins to walk. Yesterday I managed to do it (by choice, I wasn't even at work) it killed me but I did it :-) and today I walked to work too and then on my feet whilst there. It's hard not to when I'm a waitress, and it was hectic, it was our first day open after being closed 3 weeks for the refurb. My legs now hurt but I'm feeling good :-) now time for bed, another busy day tomoro, 12-4 then 5-1130, I will get fit!!!!
