Sweet Freedom Syrup

Got this on an e-mail today from Aldi but no nutritional info so googled it & came up with this.

The manufacturers are touting this as suitable for diabetics but it's 79g carbs per 100g.

It's not non-digestible carbs is it?


Although Splenda is something like 97g carbs, but it's so light and sweet you hardly need any - which I think is the point.  No idea about that product though.  Will look at your links when I have a little more time.

It sounds to me like something that is meant to appeal to people who have grasped that sugar is bad but haven't quite understood much further than that.

It has a lot of fructose so I can't see it being very good for us. About a 1/5 of it is.Just because something is a carb doesn't always mean it will effect BG. It just means it has carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in it. It isn't a product I would use so I've never tried it so have no idea if it would be okay or not. Plus really you would need to use it and see what it did to your BG.

25% fewer calories than sugar? Wow!
