I've never seen a pizza stone.  Wonder if a pre-heated baking tray would do instead?  The recipe looks very interesting.

I don't think a tray would be man enough. You need something that will hold the heat for some time.

As a substitute, just use any old stone paving-type slab that fits your oven. Give it a scrub first !

Type 2 since 1999. Current meds Gliclazide

One of those cast-iron 'griddle' plates would probably do it - but I threw the one Pete had away years ago, I never had one, just use a heavy based frying pan meself.

You can buy pizza stones though - I don't like pizza enough to bother, frankly.

I am not into scrubbing paving slabs Terry and as Sedge says, not that fond of Pizza really either.

Currently I am unexcited by holding anything at all hot, since I burnt my 2nd finger on my right hand on a roasting tray last week.  Since then the blister (about 1.5" long and .5" wide) has burst and I have a raw patch on that finger that won't scab as the scab dissolves every time I shower/wash my hands and it's bloody raw and sore!

Can you still get that spray-on 'plastic skin' Patti?

Yesterday J went to the chemist and got some Germoline paint on stuff.  Stings like mad but 2 coats seems to have covered it.  I shall see what happens when I shower in a minute.
