Trying for number 2!
« on: 22 June 2015, 09:06:37 PM »
Hi everyone

It's been a while since I've been on here but I'm sure some of you will remember me.

We are trying for baby number 2 and this time I'll be on the pump so hoping it will make controlling diabetes easier in pregnancy. I've been on the pump for about 1.5 years now so really used to it which is good. And last hba1c was 6.4.

Anyone else trying at the moment?

Hi Mand,

Best of luck, we aren't trying, Finlay is 2 now and quite enough work for now! I'm not ruling out another in the future though.

What pump are you using?

Great Hb1Ac to be trying on! Hopefully the pump will make the changes during pregnancy a bit easier to deal with. Not sure we have any other mothers trying right now but hopefully a few will see and make suggestions if you kept posting.

Thanks everyone. I'm on the animas vibe pump. I'll have look back through post. I was wondering about the super bolus for 2 hour post meal spikes. I struggled with this on injections.

Also anyone got any easy quick meal ideas which are low carb? Already started on the burgen bread today and noticed a difference. I've pretty much eaten what ever I wanted since I had Austen but will have to reduce carbs and sugar in pregnancy.

Dolly I know why you mean they are a handful. Austen is now 3 and a half so things have got a bit easier so thought we'd go for number 2.

The large tescos sell pre-prepared cauliflower couscous (cauli rice) and courgette spaghetti. They also do some chicken things i've tried that are good for when you need something to "just stick in oven", different marinated chicken things, frozen in a foil tray, just stick in oven. Those are my things when i need ease of cooking at the moment.

Frittata/crustless quiche - all sorts of stuff - have you consulted the recipe section and the Recipe Book that's on the DSF website? - seems not ! LOL

Have your normal dinner - ie meat spuds and veg - but cut down the spuds to a minimum and add an extra veg.  Sandwiches - same amount of filling or more than usual, with half the bread !

Super Bolus - try it before you are preg I should- then you'll not be taking that leap in the dark when babes is at risk!  But make sure you have hypo remedies always to hand LOL

I found the super bolus quite good, but what I have found better on the pump is bolussing about half an hour before eating.

That aside, welcome back Mand and good luck with no 2!
