Tesco stocking Cauli Rice and Courgette/Carrot Spaghetti
« on: 14 August 2015, 09:34:07 AM »
I know this was posted somewhere else earlier, but my local Tesco has finally got in tubs of Cauli CousCous (rice) 330 gm, Courgette Spaghetti 250 gm and Carrot Spaghetti 250 gm. Currently priced at £1.00 or buy 3 for £2.00. Considering a very small head of Cauliflower is £1, so at the moment this is a very good priced and labour saving offer - plus you can divide it into individual portion sizes and freeze (the rice - probably not the courgettes or carrots - just checked definitely not the courgettes or carrots though apparently sweet potato and butternut squash spaghetti freeze very well.

I did buy a handheld spiralizer for making these a few months ago but it wouldn't work at all, broke lumps off my courgettes (which whilst typing made me think ' that sounds very painful').

It's good isn't it Ziggy that mainstream is taking on low carb and healthy, oops, healthful, foods :) Certainly labour saving…….and less dangerous ;)

I use a grater to make the cauli rice and a julienne cutter to make spaghetti, so far no injuries !

I use a food processor for the rice and hubby does the courgettes with a veggie peeler.  The serrated type.

Cauliflowers are usually cheap as chips here as they grow all around us.  Still, for ease of use the Tesco offer sounds like a good'un

I have one of those super slicers which can julienne or make very thin for gratin thin veg but it is lethally dangerous and not that easy to use. I have one of those serrated peelers but haven't tried it.

Still at 65p a pop if you buy 3 pots I will probably get some cauli rice, bag and freeze.

They were very popular at our tesco - only the huge one sells them but they keep being sold out of the cauli cous cous! the courgette spaghetti was really quick to throw together with some tomatoes sauce for a quick and lazy meal though.
