If you're a bit overweight like me add it to this petition!
« on: 01 February 2016, 10:25:31 PM »
Hi all,
I think that we all have been touched by cancer in one way or another. But did you know The 1939 Cancer Act makes it illegal to discuss the possibility cancer can be cured. AND a doctor can only prescribe chemo for cancer!!!!

If you would like to sign a petition to get that act scrapped please do so here: https://gcmaf.se/
There is a voluntary donation bit after but I declined as my donations are better going to my Christie Cancer Research fund.

Also, did you know that we all have a protein in our bodies which enables the body to cure itself, It's called GcMAF.
This is a fascinating read:
https://gcmaf.se/gcmaf-science/how-gcmaf-works/

On the homepage (same page as petition)    https://gcmaf.se/   (bottom) is a time-lapse video of GcMAF activated macrophages munching cancer cells. This is not just ordinary apoptosis which I’ve seen in other videos, you can actually see the cancer cells recoiling (creepy!)
I personally believe there are cures out there which are being suppressed, even for diabetes. That and cancer is a multi billion £££ industry and Big pharm dictates policy right up to top goverment level.

I hope you all never have to watch any loved one die because of a stupid legality, but the chances for that are slim at this point in time. Appalling!
Tony

I have no idea what Lady Saatchi wasn't allowed or why, and neither your post nor the intro to the survey, tells me anything at all.

How do we know that the whatever Lord Saatchi wanted his wife to have, was licensed in the UK?

Isn't chemo a cocktail of whatever drugs are proven to work best for that type of cancer instead of trying a million different things that don't touch it except rarely?

Or do they stick their hand in a Bingo callers number bag and see which one comes out?

Hi Sedge,
I don't know either what she wasn't allowed to have, and to me it's not important, but I'll bet whatever it was it was better than chemotherapy. I signed the petition because I disagree with the stupid archaic law which needs abolishing. I threw the link in here for like minded people. And I've put my name to petitions that had far less importance and significance to me than this one.
I also have my own personal reasons which compel me to add my signature. and I'm old enough to vote  ;)

It's a voluntary thing Sedge you either do or don't, your choice! Nobody will think less of you one way or 'tother

Peace

I think they have an idea which chemo drugs work best for which cancers but it does seem rather hit and miss, some people respond to certain drugs, some people don't. When my sister was ill they'd give her a certain treatment for a few weeks then test her blood and do scans and then say, well that's not working, lets try something else. A few weeks is a long time when they may only have weeks to live. In her case the chemo was useless in attacking the cancer and the side effects were awful. (she was in so much pain, her belly swelled from not being able to digest any food, she would sleep from one seizure to another, she lost her hair, her personality totally changed). It was like she was gone long before she was gone. I know chemo is more effective for other people but I'd certainly like to see people having more options than chemo before them.

I was initially confused by the assertion that the 1939 Cancer act prohibited discussing the possibility that cancer could be cured and that Drs could only prescribe chemo for Cancer.  So I did some digging and it would appear that most of the 1939 Cancer act has been subsumed into other legislation.  The act says people must not advertise that their product or method will cure cancer, NOT as far as I can see that Drs are only allowed to prescribe chemo.
Quote
As of December 2014, the sole remaining provision is in respect of advertising to treat or cure cancer, all other provisions having been repealed or subsumed into other legislation.
The Act's most notable provision is a clause prohibiting taking any part in publication, except under specified conditions, of advertisements that "offer to treat any person for cancer, or to prescribe any remedy therefor, or to give any advice in connection with the treatment thereof". Prosecutions do take place, but are rare.[1]
The expression “advertisement” includes any notice, circular, label, wrapper or other document, and any announcement made orally or by any means of producing or transmitting sounds.
So basically it's to prevent people saying things like "buy this bitter gourd melon and it will cure diabetes".  It's not meant to squash or otherwise prohibit new kinds of treatment being researched by bona fide medical researchers.

Lord Saatchi's bill is actually The Medical Innovation Bill
which has caused no little controversy. The Telegraph article dated 23rd January 2015 describes it well, but I think it's been chucked out of parliament now.  The actual purpose of the petition is unclear to me, despite having read it through, but it seems to be a rant against the drug companies and accusations of a conspiracy by them.

If people feel that their conscience tells them to sign it, then fair enough, but I'd like to see a far more concise and easily understood wording saying what the purpose of the petition actually is.
