Chocolate Mousse!
« on: 07 March 2016, 05:22:31 PM »
I'd be interested to hear if anyone thought this dessert was not good for sugar levels as from what I can tell it's extremely low and very yummy! The chocolate I used was lindt 90% cocoa and is 14g carbs and 7g sugar per 100g (dessert uses 100g), the cream is 3g sugar and carbs and eggs...protein! I didn't use icing sugar and instead sprinkled total sweet sweetner into egg whites.

Here is the link I followed - enjoy! http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/grandmas_chocolate_03490

Ps dessert easily makes 6 servings so around just over 2g sugar each...plus the protein in the egg will most likely reduce any effect of those 2g!

We tend not to take any notice of the "of which sugars" as the ingredients include that in the overall carbs... so the choccie is 14g carbs and that's what we'd measure.  Don't forget that sweetener has carbs in it which usually are weight for weight the same as sugar.  It wins out because it weighs so much lighter than sugar so you only use a tiny proportion.

The dessert is still very low carb though  :)   I should imagine it's fine for BGs but your meter will tell you  ;)   It sounds delish.

Do you know Ab1234 I had you mixed up with someone else and I was thinking "how can she not be diabetic now?" as the other member was T1!!!!  Just noticed your sig. Ha ha, sorry about that.

Ha ha yes I'm the one with a one off diagnosis in Australia for pre - diabetes and not one single result in the UK being a cause for concern except the odd reading which I still get told is normal for everyone...I know what you're thinking...but 2 babies on and I'm still A-ok apparently...BUT I still maintain the view that everybody should watch their sugar intake and exercise, so that's what I follow (although could definitely up the exercise! I will do...next week!)
