Diabulimia - the disorder that's killing diabetic women
« on: 19 April 2016, 12:12:17 PM »
Well HURRAH!  at last the fact that Diabulimia exists and IS a problem - has made the national press.  Sad that yet another young woman has had to die from it to get any publicity, but ......

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/health/familyhealth/diabulimia-the-little-known-eating-disorder-thats-killing-diabetic-women/ar-BBrUhqF?li=BBoPH6F&ocid=U219DHP

And WE moan about comparatively trivial stuff ... in comparison.

Oh that makes me feel so frustrated for her and her family.  It's always a problem for us that our doctors don't know enough about diabetes...in her case, and especially with the complications with food issues, and the doctors not knowing about diabulaemia, that was deadly.
T2 and PCOS. Just had large serous adenofibroma removed with ovary and fallopian tube. Bp is now normal!

I wonder how much boys are effected by this too. I know about 50% of the anorexics I've met have been males. Weight loss was one of the main reasons I used to live on the cusp DKA for most of my teen life. I even had an anorexic ask me if I was one but I thought I was overweight. If I could go back I'd give myself a good slap and show myself what belly fat really looks like :)

The founder of said charity is a member here Paul, though I don't think she's been in recently.  I have signposted a few people to her website.

LOL - one of the GDs was whinging about her fat/flabby arms.  She most likely is a bit overweight but she's only 16 - and she tends to be on the 'solid' side like her dad, whereas her older sister is like a lath (she's hardly anything like a duck, at 42 weeks preg!) just like their mother.  So I showed her the arm exercise s we used to do 30 years ago at the gym - absolute killers, done to the 'cancan' hit record - remember how LONG that was!!  Could never carry on to the end - but there again - that was everyone's target.  She hated me - I told her they hurt, she thought I just meant 'now'.  No - when I was younger and pretty fit too, mate!

Well her name's Jacqueline (think she spells it the proper way but could be wrong)Allen.  She posted a few times when DWED was new - but then actually told us she didn't have time to be in both places which is absolutely fair enough'

I know it was absolutely years Paul - before we were hacked! so I doubt you'd be able to find anything now.  I can't LOL
