Sorry meant to respond yesterday then hubby wanted my help with something and it slipped my mind when I got back to the computer.
hi and many thanks for your replys ,patti im on humulin m3 I have 3 in the morning but even with that low dose my sugers drop when im on the move I carry glucose tabs and my meter whenever I go out .at night I have 18 insulin but I have to be carefull my sugars don't rise to much
It doesn't really sound like the regime of mixed insulin is suiting you very well. Too much in the mornings and not enough at night. Mixed insulin is very tricky to control. Basically as Liam says, you can't adjust the insulin to suit the food you are about to eat, so you have to adjust the food to match the insulin and have the same amount of carbs at the same time of day every day. It sounds like you aren't eating enough carbs at breakfast if you are going hypo in the day, and you are probably eating too many at night. I couldn't get on with mixed insulin and switched to a basal/bolus regime as quickly as I could. This means I can eat when I like and vary the amounts if I wish. Perhaps ask your nurse about it when you see her next month.
Scotland yes my glucose was 69 at the hospital they were shocked my gp hadn't picked up on my diabetes I told him I couldn't stop drinking weeing I was being sick but he said oh you will be fine its just a bug " title="Angry" class="smiley"> patti why do you think I might be type 1
As Liam said, it sounds to me like you had all the symptoms of Diabetic Ketoacidosis at diagnosis (vomiting etc.) see this explanation of DKA http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=797
Type 2s only very rarely get DKA because they usually still have some of their own insulin floating around. However, as Liam also says, they often just look at your age and label you T2 because of it. Particularly if you were a bit overweight at the time. I had a similar experience and had to really push to get the proper diagnostic tests, proving I was T1 and, also as Liam says, immediately I got better treatment.
.im not a big eater really but my weight now is a problem I just don't know what to eat it all gets a bit to much at times thank you for your help
Can you list what you eat in a typical day? Everything... for breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner. That might help us to help you a bit in knowing what to eat.
