Type 2 Priority Setting
« on: 17 May 2016, 11:00:49 PM »
I came across a link to this elsewhere, it is a survey on the diabetes uk website about research priorities for research into type 2. (Presume it's okay to post it as its on the diabetes uk site)

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/T2-top-10
Type: Lucy. A1C 44 / 6.0% Jan17.
Lantus, Victoza and Apidra. Metformin XR, Bisoprolol (for SVT). Dexcom G4 with xdrip and nightscout.

It's absolutely fine Lucy.  It looks very interesting.  I should like to know myself what people with T2 themselves think are the priorities.

Great that they are asking! - sorry to see one name on the list of people though, OTOH I've heard one of the other names speak, and I know he doesn't necessarily agree with some of the things I'm worried the other one might push!  LOL

Shame I don't qualify!

My responses.

Q1.Discover the true cause or causes.
Q2. Discover the cure.
Q3. Until the cure is discovered, do deeper research into the appropriate diet for type 2 starting from scratch without preconceptions as to the minimum or maximum levels of carbohydrates, fats and protein in healthy diets.
Q4. Until the cure is discovered do deeper research into use of home testing after meals to improve blood glucose response. Examples are:
Using Meal-Based Self-Monitoring Blood Glucose (SMBG) Data to Guide Dietary Recommendations in Patients With Diabetes, Lois Jovanovic, MD, MACE. The Diabetes Educator, Vol. 35, No. 6, 1023-1030 (2009)DOI: 0.1177/0145721709349587
Test, Review, Adjust, http://loraldiabetes.blogspot.com.au/2006/10/test-review-adjust.html
Q5.Which of the following best describes you? A person living with Type 2 diabetes
Q6. Male
Q7. White British
Q8. 50-69
Q9. NW1 (well, I will be for a day or two next month :) )
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

Great responses Alan
Thanks.

Apologies for the long absence. I had minimal time for the web over the past two weeks as SWMBO desired a repainted house interior as part of the price for my pending six-week absence.

I've painted the lounge, family room, kitchen and three bedrooms and told her the garage and office can wait a while longer :). My joints are all creaking. It's amazing how stiff and sore some unused muscles can get when you're out of practice crouching down with masking tape on skirting boards or standing on chairs reaching for difficult corners.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

I feel faint ... LOL !  Enjoy!

(There's a nice house coming on the market in Penzance shortly I understand, would you have time to nip and view it whilst supposed to be in NW1?  ROFLMAO!)

The trip is filling in the gaps with interesting countries (Albania, Scandinavia, Cuba, western Canada) missed in the past. The frantic timing is a consequence of SWMBO placing a six-week limit on my absences :) .

When I visit a country or city I enjoy I try to include it on future trips. Thus I included London rather than elsewhere in Europe as my transit stop to Bergen. Sadly there is too little time to visit Cornwall; in fact Patti and I discovered we miss each other unavoidably by just hours as I pass through Gatwick :(

LOL - I know your adventures are precision planned and packed fuller than a Betterware salesman's sample case! (they sold household goods, polishes, dusters and Lord knows what for every nook and cranny ad infinitum.  The suitcase was bigger than me when I was a kid!)
