Good afternoon,

I'm a researcher who is currently conducting a research study looking at people's experiences of accessing services, registrations and support in both pre and post diagnosis in Hampshire. We are currently looking to recruit individuals for this study.

The research project:
We are undertaking a project on the experiences of people living in Hampshire who are in the process or have been diagnosed with a visual impairment. It centres on the certification and registration process and signposting; the information you received when you first experienced sight loss. Our results will be used to inform the relationship between eye departments and social services.

Participation:
If you wish to participate or want to know more about the research you can call 01962 857 385 or email  (enquiries@healthwatchhampshire.co.uk) Sian will then contact you and ask whether you would like to speak face to face or via the telephone. Sian will also give you details of the research and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will be required to give your consent to participate and all your data will remain confidential.. The conversation will last about 40 minutes.

Selection criteria:
You must be 18 years or older and have 1 or more of the following
1. be visually impaired (severely or slighty sight impaired)
2. be living and/or attending an eye clinic in Hampshire, UK.
3. either be going through the process of being diagnosed or be diagnosed with a visual impairment.

If you say anything that could be a safeguarding concern, I am obliged to share the concern with the local authority safeguarding service.

It's important to say that this research has obtained ethical approval through the Local Authorities Research Department.

Thank you  :)

It said you need to fill one of the criteria not all three, so anyone with a sight impairment is accepted also

It says they want to hear from people living in Hampshire who have or are blah blah'

Ergo if you don't live there, it doesn't apply, even if you fit all 3 criteria.

Maybe they can clarify. The selection criteria definitely says one of the three. Perhaps they are looking to compare Hampshire to elsewhere. Don't think they would have put 1 or more of the three if it wasn't true.

I have to say my local Healthwatch, only deal with local issues - sounds like something you'd hear in the corner shop from the only gay in the village, that !  LOL

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the interest!

You must either live in Hampshire OR be receiving healthcare in Hampshire to participate aswell as having a visual impairment. (The reason why it is only being conducted in Hampshire is due to the locality of the Healthwatch)

Hope that helps a little.. if you aren't sure whether you can take part you're welcome to contact me and I can help.

Best wishes
