Hi all

We have been asked to help recruit T2s to assist with a new study.  Details below, please help if you can:

Assessing self-management in people with type 2 diabetes using technology-based interventions: qualitative research to inform the development of a new questionnaire

Researchers in the Health Services Research Unit, University of Oxford are conducting a study which aims to understand and assess how technology-based self-management systems, such as mobile apps or web-based platforms, may impact upon people with type 2 diabetes. It is intended that the results of the study will inform a questionnaire to assess a person’s ability to manage their health.

If you have type 2 diabetes and have experience of using technology-based diabetes systems to help you manage your diabetes, they would like to invite you to take part in an interview about your experiences.

Please click on the following link to find out more and sign up for the study Click here

Or copy and paste https://oxforddph.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_d5npxTdFHrhntvT into your browser.

Bit confused by it, i clicked the link, it said Q1, was no question on that page just an introduction. I pressed continue, the next page said Q17 information about the research. I pressed continue, the next page had Q11 (name/email) and Q13 postcode.

I didnt fill anything in as i was a bit confused about whether i did it right since the question numbers were not in an order. Unless the Q meant something else and i should have ignored it. I'm a bit nervous about the idea of an interview anyway so it may not be for me.

Apparently it was a techie fault!

Here's what Laura has said:

Quote
Apologies for any confusion caused. We had a bit of a technical fault- the numbers Lucy highlighted were not meant to appear to potential respondents, but relate to the back end of the survey for our own use. This is now resolved, so hopefully completion will be more straight forward. Many thanks Lucy for flagging this as an issue!

On another note, please don’t be nervous about the idea of taking part in an interview. What we’d really like is an informal conversation about how you manage type 2 diabetes and your experiences with any technology, such as apps or wearables, which may help or support you in the management process. It can be as long/short as you like- everything is valuable to us! Most of my interviews so far have taken place over the phone, so very happy to do that if it is more comfortable for anyone interested.

Thank you for reading!

Laura

When I was filling it in I got an "unknown error" on the page about recording ethnic origins, but then it seemed to progress again, not sure if it saved what I had already input, but I completed it anyway.

Had my telephone interview today, it was just a chat on the phone talking about my experiences. Wasn't scary at all.

Great, I've done one or two of them.  I found em quite interesting.  I should have thought you were ideal with your experience with both the Dexcom and the Libre.

They were looking to talk about all technology, including websites forums apps wearables social media etc, so anyone would have something to contribute. I probably have a wider experience of technology than most though yes with my libre and dexcom!
