Thanks for the link.

My personal feeling is that these drugs are another statin in the making - we will only find out the dire consequences of taking them years after many people have been harmed.

The really terrifying thing is that they're now over the counter medicines

Thanks for posting this. I've been taking Omeprazole for 23 years as it's the only thing that seems to help with my hiatus hernia but this has frightened the life out of me. I am following an extremely low carb diet & generally I noticed an improvement in my GERD but when I tried stopping the Omep a few months ago I was quickly in agony, don't know what to do now. feel it's a waste of time going to GP as he's generally useless.  :(

My life is so joyous (sarcasm) I sometimes wonder why I am bothering to be here at all.

Q have you seen the thread about PPIs and Metformin causing lack of B12?  Here http://diabetes-support.org.uk/diabetes_forum/index.php/topic,6867.0.html

Yes I've been following this, I wrote that I was going to add B12 myself to my latest A1c blood test request form but having read a lot I see that total B12 doesn't really say a lot without the more specialist test for active/inactive B12 and at the moment I don't think I can face the inevitable refusals/obstruction from the GP, don't have the necessary fight in me at the mo, feeling a bit down.
