Thanks Patti, I asked the nurse but she said there was no conversion!!!!!!! I have to admit that there is something about the nurse that I just can't take to, I just don't get the 'here to make you feel better' from her.  :(

There may be no conversion on her computer report, but that doesn't mean there isn't a conversion.  Google "Hba1c converter" and you'll find a calculator you can put in the new number and it will tell you what it was in old money.

Sounds like the nurse doesn't enjoy her job And is rather judgemental.

I can't really put my finger on what my issue is with her, I don't feel it is my 'agenda' but her 'agenda'. In all fairness she doesn't rush you but I feel I come out with very little info but more pills!

It may just be me though!  ;)

Not sure if ive mentioned this before but ive been having dizzy spells for the lasst 4 or 5 weeks now that ave thrown me off track with the dieting. I keep thinking/feeling i should eat more but it really doesn't help the dizziness much as my blood sugar is fine usually when it happens. I wanted to get back on track as i've regained a few pounds (not worried about that - it should come off again quick enough once i behave, but will be weighing to make sure it stops increasing / starts reducing) but now i have my mum staying for a week, and the darker evenings mean less dog walk at night since we cant use the park etc. Need to get back on track sharpish if i am to meet my christmas target but it's difficult.

BP has been fine, he's taken it sitting down and standing up on two of my three appointments and it's been fine, always been fine in the past too so doesn't seem to be that, although that was his suspicion too that maybe my bp dips sometimes. He's said what i am describing is pre-syncope (the bit before a faint) and that maybe it will just go away. I did a load of blood tests today and he's requested a 24hr ECG to check on my heart. It has been improving in that its been less severe - the first week of it i was feeling close to fainting and being sent home from work etc. Recently it's just been a bit of lightheaded spells that pass.

Feels like i'm wasting his time to be honest - it's pretty mild usually now and passes by itself. I'm not fond of having lots of tests and appointments so i'm hoping its something simple picked up on the blood test and a few pills to sort it out, or that both tests come back fine and it resolves itself or something. At least he didnt request a 24 hour blood pressure monitor - thats my least favourite test!

I'd beware the "few pills to sort it out" approach.  More often than not the symptoms turn out to be side effects of some other pill that's been prescribed!

I haven't changed any medications in at least 7-8 months so hopefully not. I was thinking more low iron levels or something, but he seemed to think that unlikely as i have no other syptoms other than the lightheaded spells. I imagine i'll be able to get a printout of the results later this week anyway.

Lucy, you haven't been swimming as part of your new fitness regime, have you?  I have suffered dizziness in the past after getting water in my ears.  It went away after a few weeks but it has happened twice to me after swimming.  It occurred when getting out of bed and occasionally when getting out of a chair.  I also had it for a couple of weeks following the fitting of my pacemaker as they positioned the trolley so that my head was a lot lower than the rest of my body.  This caused fluid in my ears to move, hence the dizziness.

I hope they find the cause of your dizziness soon.

When I get old I don't want people thinking

                             I want 'em saying

I havent been swimming in years. Haven't had my b12 tested sedge, was told for either kind of anaemia i'd have other symptoms not just intermittent dizzyness. Have had a full blood count done, not sure if low b12 would show up in that at all. The 24 hour ecg isnt long to wait for at all as that will be next week.
