Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I can't believe they would just leave you sitting there!  >:(  I know it's what you were afraid of, but I still think you made the right decision to go. Keep us posted.

They did all my bloods and said I was managing well to keep my glucose under control. :nursey: I wasn't overly ketotic so they said to keep drinking and giving lots of insulin, discharged and diabetes team to follow up tomorrow.
I wish I hadn't gone now  :-\ because I was in pain with no fluids in a chair for 4 hours. And I'm absolutely shattered with all the monitoring overnight.  :banghead: :'(

What?  No fluids available?  How dreadful.  I would have been complaining about that.

I can sympathise with the horrible experience of sitting around waiting in a hospital as I have been in one all afternoon (fortunately not for me, but for my DH) However at least there was a "friend of the hospital" dispensing hot drinks and a water fountain available.

I am so sorry to hear you got such rotten treatment.

I know nothing about DKA other than what I've read as I'm only a Type 2 but I do hope they follow you up properly tomorrow Filobabe. Dreadful the way you were treated. No excuses for the NHS :(

I'm gobsmacked that there wasn't even water available.  Once again - I'd defo have to make an official complaint.  This thread makes me sound I do nowt except complain to the NHS  - but in fact I've only needed to once and so has my husband.

I do hope your clinic are shedloads more helpful to you tomorrow.  Oh - and please ask them if you can have a blood ketone testing meter, and  the appropriate message (mine uses an official form) to give to your GP to get him to prescribe the necessary strips.

Let us know how you get on today. I am so frustrated by your treatment yesterday. It seems that good care is something hard to find too many times these days.

Just carry on and ring back tonight for review.

So they didn't even help with any advice over the phone? That's very poor.  At least I have the mobile number of my DSN.  I have only once had to ring her, she didn't pick up but I left a message and she rang back within an hour and sorted my problem over the phone.

So sorry you are getting such negative treatment, particularly at a time when you are afraid and alone.

Have resigned myself to just feeling rubbish and carrying on.
Have a review with consultant end of next month ( 6month check up).
