PAD - No Progress
« on: 01 August 2017, 01:27:25 PM »
I had my long overdue review with the vascular surgeon yesterday. Because I am waiting to hear from cardiology he did no more than glance at my feet and touch them to see if they were freezing cold  they were not. Then it was see what happens after treatment for the CVD - it may improve things. No check on pulses or scans to check arteries. I am not even sure if I will get a follow up appointment or be discharged from the clinic.  :(

Doesn't sound like it was worth either of your time really. We all have appointments like that. Then again I'm sure I'd be first to complain if they didn't give me an appointment for ages when I should be reviewed.

I'm sorry I don't know enough about PAD to advise on your treatment.

You must be sick to death of getting passed off like this! If you still have enough outrage left in you after all this time, I would consider a strongly-worded complaint letter to the practice supervisor / clinic / hospital (whoever is the appropriate person to report to here). It seems like it's just unprofessional and probably against some official guideline somewhere (that you could leverage to your advantage) to not do a minimum of checks and come up with some kind of treatment plan for a condition as complicated and as advanced as yours is.

And if you have a patient advocate service I would contact them as well if you haven't done. And I know that some people, if they go through all the proper channels like that and get no relief, can sometimes get results by going to the papers and making a public fuss. Or even just by suggesting that that will be your next step if you don't get some kind of an answer!

"I suppose anyone can fall," said Shasta.
"I mean can you fall and get up again without crying, and mount again and fall again and yet not be afraid of falling?"
"I - I'll try," said Shasta.
