Hi Paul

Yes, things are coming along.  We now have fitted wardrobes and downstairs is quite straight and comfortable.  I am looking forward to getting curtains made as soon as the 2nd bedroom is cleared of boxes and I can set up a table big enough to work on.  Meantime all the windows have blinds so we are quite private.  Next year we shall start on the garden which (apart from the shed we erected) is a blank canvas of lawn and patio.

Stress is a nightmare!  I was set to murder our solicitor, who was THE most obstructive, backward, misogynistic, ignorant barsteward I have ever met!  My needs were off the richter scale, but people like that wouldn't have a clue if you faced them with "Do you have the least clue what your attitude is doing to MY health?"  Followed by "I am now going to sue you for stress".

all i can say is thank goodness it is in the past tense now --

looking back on my career in work -- i admit stress must have caused loads of blips -- but not knowing it was the cause at the time -- self blame became the main cause--- how many of us have done that over the years ??????
and then caused chasing perfection that not only couldn''t be achieved but also helped yo-yoing to gain a foothold!!!!

knowing we are not alone and that others have similar issues definitely helps lift the burden of carrying around so much pressure.

I think knowing other people with the same reactions/problems is the most important thing to discover.  Because all the HCPs expect things to be exactly as it says on the tin i.e. if you eat X and inject Y then the result will be Z.  Rather than how it really is!  Once you know you are "Normal" or at least normal for a T1 then you can relax a bit in the knowledge that you're not alone and you're not to blame.

Is it because many of the HCPs are telling us what they have learned in a book or because they know from experience that it is so?  I once had a HCP tell me that everyone should be on the same dose of insulin and then there would be no weight gain?  I nearly choked when he said that.
