It’s only since changing that I have realised that the scripts get there quite promptly!  Wasn’t expecting to pick up a script, but asked just in case when I was shopping - it was there!  Only been shopping in Sainsbury’s a bit recently since I got some vouchers.  £6 off if you spend £30.  Otherwise it’s much more expensive than Morrison’s (now our nearest supermarket)or Tesco (where we get air miles which we collect and usually pay for a return flight every year).

when I once asked at the pharmacy about the fact that my medicines are in a bit of a jumble due to blister pack sizes ( a couple are 30 tabs )
( most are 28 )  but with prescriptions starting for the first time on varying dates - I have a right jumble

their reply was to bring everything back and they would issue me with a fresh supply so all would be on the same start point ( and they would destroy everything I brought back )

talk about overkill - LOL
so I just carry on as I have been doing for years ( and shake my head in reverse dumbstruck awe ) :banghead:

I cease to worry about that Paul - we could all have Alzheimers or senile dementia and be dribbling wrecks, after all - and I quite honestly don't spend a lot of time agonising over that either.

We'll be able to do whatever we are able to do and if we can't - we can't!

2 weeks later .......an update

pod change yesterday around 10am -- good day blood wise went to bed last night on a 6.2 ( perfect )

woke up this morning 6:15am -- felt the high BG dry mouth -- tested and 14.3 WHAT !!!  so 5.5u correction bolus and back to bed for an hour
re-tested at 7:15am   17.3 ( Oh Bol!ocks ) so downstairs and a 10u pen correction , back to bed for a bit longer cuz confident the pen inject will bring me down and steady the ship

so , upon waking at 9:05am --- another test and at least down a bit to 12.9  -- so a pod change then --- don't like to do changes early in the morning because the pods have a fixed 72 hour time limit -- I prefer a 9am - 10am change
anyway -- a further 4u pen inject , pod change and a +50% TBR for 1 hour   last test at 10:35 -- Yay !! back down to 9.2 so headed in the right direction

don't know why the pod stopped delivering properly -- perhaps i rolled over on it too hard and dislodged it -- guess we'll never know.

These things are sent to try us Paul.  At least you did everything you could.

Just had the warning on my pump that it's now out of warranty.  I am supposed to be getting a new one asap... another Combo, but not got an appointment to receive it yet.

are you getting concerned about the lack of an appointment -- or are they normally pretty good ?

ate my breakfast at about 11:15 with my BG firmly in good range -- 5.2

these things are sent to try us ( and sometimes they succeed )

Thing is once they are out of wtty, if they go wrong, tough cos Roche won't replace them.  We were waiting to go on holiday and I wasn't comfortable going that far without a pump I could more or less rely on.  Have to say though I do have both Novo and Levemir pens to hand - not enough for months on end!  To take supplies for both pump and pen use, would a)  take some times to assemble and b)  be complete overkill !

With the raging high BGs I was getting in hospital it was hard to decide whether I just needed even more insulin, whether it was an 'off' site or whether the insulin was past its best.  Had to work my way through them all in turn .......

Jenny - Since you have lots of diabetes experience, do you have any advice as to how to determine which of the above reasons can be responsible for high blood glucose numbers?  My BGs have been absolute rubbish and the only reason I can think of is that we are in the middle of a kitchen renovation - which hardly seems like a good reason for bad numbers.  My next A1C is going to be awful.  Diabetes is never boring because last night my cgm woke me to a number of 47 (2.6 mmol).  I was lucky to make it to the kitchen for a hypo remedy.   :banghead:

It would appear that something has gone awry with the forum as several days' worth of posts have disappeared (2 - 3 days' worth).  I think this is because the host company have been migrating the forum to a new server.  It's very annoying!

Several posts have been lost!  However, Sedge, Paul and myself have all said independently in response to your above comment that it is highly likely that is the cause of your rubbish BGs.  Having a kitchen renovation is a huge upheaval and bound to cause stress.  Stress causes the body to produce Cortisol, a natural steroid.  Steroids raise BGs and then the raised BGs cause even more stress.  You need to be a blessed clairvoyant sometimes to figure out what's going on and the problem is we never recognise in ourselves that our stress levels are raised until someone else points it out.  I've been thinking a great deal on this over the last few days and given an hour or so I intend to write a "letter to HCPs" on the subject.

Thanks Patti for your response.  I think you might be quite right about my particular high BGs.  I have no way of cooking and we have no water source in the kitchen.  We are forced to eat out or have fast food.  My husband doesn't care because he doesn't understand the importance of keeping BG under control.  To him if my numbers are high, it is no big deal.  I don't know how you made it through the process of moving house.  I respect you for being able to do that.

hey gramma bear !!!
wow -- that must be really hard having to cope with only being able to eat out or have fast food.
I love my little kitchen -- it is a great source of comfort to me to do my own cooking ( and keep Bg's better controlled )

hope you're back in yours soonest !!

THAT's what's happening! I was wondering why posts I knew for sure I had read were suddenly popping up again as I clicked through "all unread." Nice to know I'm not going crazy, at least! hehehehe

... and in reply to the question - no there is no way whatever of telling which of those things it might have been in any case - just have to work our way through each possibility one at a time to try and eliminate each one, till something works.
