It  usually settles down after a bit - but anyway they'll retest after a month to see if it's any good.

mine was 4.43 -- so no question at all from the doc that I needed the increase.

I'm so jealous! I wish they would treat mine at 4, the lab ranges here are always something like 0.3-4.0 so they leave it alone! Meantime I have always been symptomatic at 4 (and have no idea how low I have to get it to feel asymptomatic as I've never gotten there!)

Although my latest test came back at 6.6 so I guess this will be the first test for my new clinic, how will they respond? Currently on 112 mcg.

Fingers crossed the 100mcg makes you feel better, Paul! :)

I'm on 112.5 Nytquil !  Which actually translates to 125 one day and 100 the next etc etc.  125 was too much, but 100 wasn't enough LOL  I've had to invest in a Mon Tues Wed pill organiser as I'd never remember whether it's one or two today, otherwise!

I have to cut my Liothyronine tablets in half and take a half a day!  They are tiny little pills, had to invest in a pill splitter (little plastic device with a metal blade) and even that doesn't always do the job cleanly.

thanks Nyt !!  my last test when they moved me from 50 to 75mcg was 5.54 -- doc was surprised that increase did not do the trick - even though I have been telling him.

He said he wanted to see a number below 4.0  -- so patti very interesting you say you feel best at around 1 -- -- I shall be pushing him to get to a dose that gets me lower in the range rather than higher ( if that sort of makes sense )

I hope you get your meds sorted quickly Nyt -- it really is rubbish feeling rubbish

Nyt.  I hope the new clinic is proactive in helping you with thyroid meds.  Some people need to take T4as well as T3 meds.  So if you don’t respond to increases in thyroxine, ask about Liothyronine (Paul too) - though it might go by another name over there.  Although of course you’re not being treated atm and Paul is nowhere near on max dose.

My endo and my old GP both say diabetics tend to do better with levels between 1 and 2.  Both of them have observed this on their own from their patients - not read it in a textbook.  However my new D consultant - who is a fair bit younger than me! - says exactly the same.

Have you asked your consultant, Paul?  If not, I should - but why isn't he jumping up and down about your TSH  level, anyway?

good question sedge !!!!!!!!

and thanks to all for great replies too

sedge -- my consultant retired and I saw a bloke i used to see around 15 years ago who just filled in on my last appointment ( october 20 , 2017 )
he was very concerned and wanted me to go for a further blood test right then and there -- I explained I was being proactive with my GP and would enlist his help should I require it in the coming months

I am meant to have a new consultant by next april though.

Well- just make sure you do, Paul !  LOL

I like it best when they give you a bit of official paper saying  'Please prescribe ...forthwith and do whatever further tests are necessary until you get to ....'  Then - I don't have to get embroiled in discussions with the uninitiated!  I was totally surprised with Dr B (who has, sadly, retired since, well he had the - but was locuming that week!) cos he was REALLY sensible about everything I ever saw him for.

really good point sedge -- it is best I find as well to get the official "scrip" direct from the consultant -- I don't even show those to my GP -- just take it to the dispensary ( pharmacy inside the GP )
and tell them to add it to my repeat -- hasn't failed yet !!
