Notifications

Back in November I mentioned I had stopped receiving notifications after a software change: Re: Time stood still - the missing days posts - attention all members!

I tried several times clearing all my notification settings and starting again but it made no difference. Since then I have used the standard method of signing in and checking unread posts but the lack of notifications meant I sometimes went several days without checking. When I get busy on other things I need the reminder to drop in.

This morning it appears every notification missed since 25th November appeared in my inbox! The first batch arrived at 4:11am (5:11 pm GMT) my time, the next one at 4:28 and another batch at 4:31. Just over 50.

I don't know what you did Patti, but it's working again :)
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

Not me darling.. our lovely Admin Mike!  He seems to have solved the problem.  So pleased!

Think it was the change in server rather than the update.

My thanks, once again, to Mike. The acid test was just passed now: I was notified of your reply :)

Check in your account settings Paul (notifications seem to be inactive on your account) - Look under 'profile' and make sure the box is ticked next to 'Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.'

That page will also list threads that you have subscribed to.

Likewise Sedge.  I read every post.  Apart from being admin I find it interesting and you never know when some little nugget of knowledge will come your way.

Very true Q.

Sometimes there are threads and I think "well, not sure I can help there as I don't know about whatever" and then I google it to find out and sometimes it turns out that one can actually help and at least you've learned something.  However, I can understand why a T2 might not be interested in T1 problems and so only want to read things that interest them and vice versa... but surely if you only take notice of notifications then you only see answers to threads you have started?

Thanks for explaining about notifications.  I had also stopped getting them and I now know I need to tidy up my settings.  I also have learned more about diabetes from peeps that have T2 and that is important to me.  My sister has T2 and I need to be more tolerant of her problems.  I find that learning about someone else's struggles helps me with my own.  Very grateful for this forum and for those of you who keep it running smoothly.
