Title: Cauliflower Pilau Rice
Post by: Paulines7 on 21 August 2016, 08:21:42 AM
I thought I would post my recipe for making Cauliflower Pilau Rice as it's lovely with curries or stir fries.  This makes one portion.

Ingredients

A few cauliflower florets.
1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
A little water
Pilau Rice Seasoning (I use Schwartz)

Method
Grate some cauliflower into a bowl.
Put the coconut oil into a small frying pan and allow to melt over a gentle heat.
Add the caulifower and stir.
Sprinkle with some seasoning and add a little water until it is just below the top of the cauliflower.
Increase the heat and keep stirring the mixture until all the water has gone.
Serve with stir fry or curry.

That sounds delicious Pauline!  I had no idea you could get Pilau Rice seasoning, when I have made Pilau rice (a long time ago) there was a whole list of 1tsp of this and half tsp of that.  I shall look out for the seasoning.

Your recipe looks delicious.  Is there anything that can be substituted for the seasoning as I've never seen that kind here in the states?

The ingredients for schwartz pilau rice seasoning are Salt, Red Bell Peppers, Ground Cinnamon (Cassia)(8%), Black Pepper, Cardamom (5%), Turmeric (5%), Bay Leaves, Onion Powder, Fennel Seed, Cloves, Natural Garlic Flavouring.

You could make it up yourself Grammabear but I'll bet there is a seasoning sold in the States which is pretty much the same type of flavor. Knowing what is in it should let you pick up something similar.
