Living with diabetes > Introduce yourself
Hello
Lea:
I am new here but not so new to diabetes. I have tried some of the other diabetes sites but I hate the fighting and nastiness that goes on in them and this looks like a friendly place. :)
I am T1.5, on Novorapid, Levemir and Metformin. I manage pretty well on a very low carb diet and am generally healthy and well. A bit of insulin resistance is my only bug bear. :( Grrrr.
I hope to get to know you all and make some friends here. :)

Hello and welcome! Hope you like it here :) Wow, it sounds like you have the major points pretty much down - proper diagnosis (it can be hard to get T1.5 recognized in some places!), proper medication regime, and the big one, low carb! We won't have to do a lot of convincing ;) Looking forward to getting to know you, too!

Hi Lea and welcome to the forum
I think we're a pretty friendly bunch, so I hope you like it here.
As Nyt says, you seem to have got yourself pretty much sorted. How on earth did you persuade them to do the tests for T1.5 and which tests did you have? Look forward to getting to know you.
Lea:
I guess I was just lucky. I'd read up on the tests and asked and my doc seemed easily persuaded. I had C-peptide and GAD and just about anything else I could think of at the time. I think it helped that my doc is also a friend and that I am slim and quite active for my age. She did a full work up for me and she is also very supportive of a low carb diet which I believe is rather unusual for a doc. :)
