Diabetes pictures in the news...
Lucy:
Article on diabetes today.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18117565
The picture... the caption says "Asian man testing his blood glucose levels"... yet he doesn't appear to have a meter? I'm clearly being stupid in some way.. don't know how though.
Makes me laugh how the constant stream of articles on T2 always show a picture of someone testing and caption along the lines of "Diabetics need to test their blood sugar level"
sedge:
Aaaah, there is some type of strip you can bung your blood on and it changes colour. I didn't think we used em in the UK though, dunno how accurate they are?
Just wondering if that's a UK Asian! LOL
Lucy:
Like a ketone strip but with blood? Gives you a vague range or something? I assume it's a UK Asian diabetic... it's about ethnic minorities within the uk!
nytquill17:
It could just as easily be a stock photo rather than a photo taken specifically for the article.
Venomous:
It's amazing they used a photo of a man within normal weight range! (yes Nyt probably was!)
Love this bit!
"RISK FACTORS
