"1 Injection a week, for type 2's"

(1/2) > >>

arkle:
Just found this on facebook diabetesawarenesssite.com/?p=141

BATcher:
It's a pity they didn't put this information on their website for Type 2s, since not everyone considers Facebook worthy of consideration!

Lizzie53:
I'm assuming this is the once weekly form of Byetta. I have the twice daily version and asked my consultant at the end of last year if I could have it. She said 'no' for several reasons. Partly because the twice daily is working well for me so why change it, partly because the injection itself is quite painful and more difficult to administer. Also she thinks it hasn't been around long enough for her to consider it safe to use. So none of her patients are getting it at the moment and eventually when she feels it is safe to use, it will be for those who are unable to inject themselves and need a nurse to do it for them.

Hi Lizzie, I am a long-term type 1 (53+years), however my knowledge of type 2's is (somewhat) limited. That said, I found this article the other day & thought it may be off interest to members here & posted it purely for information purposes.

I'm sure that the manufacturers wouldn't put a huge amount of research resources into it, if they didn't think there was going to be a market for it, even if it may initially be a limited one. This may well be an early version, & maybe others will try & copy &/ or improve on it, who knows ?

Venomous:
they were developing a once weekly injection form of victoza too
