Croydon T1 diabetics - chance to apply for Dafne in 2012

(1/1)

TerryG:
I've been asked by the Croydon Community Integrated Diabetes Service, or CCIDS (essentially the DSN service to you and me), to let any type-ones in the Croydon area know that places are available on a Dafne (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) course.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't done a carb counting course before, even if they feel reasonably confident with how they manage at present: I found it really valuable just to get to know some other local T1s and the team and, having done it, it did really help me become suddenly accepted by my GP as having valid input into my treatment.

The courses are quite informal, not difficult and no one will criticise if your control hasn't be good before. Worth the time off work or whatever in my opinion.

Here's the official stuff:

CCIDS is running courses throughout 2012 in February, April, August, October and November.

All courses run Monday - Friday 9am-5pm at the Croydon and District Masonic Hall, Oakfield Rd, West Croydon.

For more information or to book a place on one of the courses please either call the CCIDS team on 020 8274 6332 or email ccids @ croydonhealth. nhs. uk  [spaces inserted so spambots don't read it automatically - remove them if emailing]

Lucy:
I would really love to do it, but ... i don't live in croydon, and i'm not type 1, so i'm out! Hopefully t1s in the area will see it being offered and go for it!

Pattidevans:
I only qualify on half the criteria, but like Lucy... hope people take advantage of it!
