John Sandford writes mainly Crime Fiction / Mystery. Don't ask me how I discovered him..someone prolly recommended him, or I saw his books somewhere, I dunno
He's written 22 so far in the Prey series, so I figured if I liked it, there'd be plenty to keep me going for a while.
I'm a big fan of Mystery/Suspense or Crime Fiction and began reading this series to see what it was like. Sandford' books so far are well written, and have kept me interested enough to want to read more.
Before this I read another new author to me. Steve Hamilton (Alex McKnight series) writes about a place called Paradise right at the top of Michigan. I really enjoyed this series (8 Books). The main protagonist Alex McKnight is unorthodox to say the least, but an interesting character. It's set very close to the Canadian border, so they cross over that a fair bit during the stories. You definitely need to read these in order as the characters build from book to book. They're like a 'whodunnit' but with a difference & the setting is awesome.
McKnight tries his hand at being a P.I. but decides it's not for him (even though he still does it). He's a bit of a loner and his friends are strong characters too. It's worth reading for the dialogue between McKnight & the Chief of Police (who hates him).
If you like the first book, you'd prolly like the series. It may not be everyone' cuppa tea, but I enjoyed them.
