What is Tamari?
It's a Japanese soya sauce - it tastes better than 'regular soy sauce imho - you can get it in Sainsburys ! Or from most health food shops. We haven't got a Sainsburys near by but I always get my shopping online from them.
I wonder if you can simply substitue almond butter for the peanut butter straight in your recipe Patti ? The coconut milk and lime would go nicely I'm sure....in fact come to think about it I have seen a recipe for sate sauce using almond butter and coconut milk....just remembered it's in a Mark Sisson book I have...here it is:
1/2 cut almond butter
1/4 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup water
1 glove garlic
2 teaspoons ginger, minced
1 teaspoon tamari
3 teaspoons seseame oil
1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce (not sure what he means there, I think it's a Chinese or Indonesian thing)
He just processes all those ingredients in a blender/food processor. No cooking needed !
