Have plenty of bg results but no food info to go with them so from tomorrow will keep a diary and we will see where the problem lies. One interesting thing I forgot indapamide (water pill) yesterday and woke today 2 points down and again at pre lunch today 5.6 wow for me excellent then PING indapamide not helping bgs but without it blood pressure really rises and already take max ramipril for that so am torn between both probs :banghead:

Is that not just because if you pee out a load of water your blood sugar is more concentrated, so if you forget the tablet your blood has more water in it and is more diluted so lower concentration of sugar in the blood?

Dns says NO NO to any new insulins eg tresiba or toujeo as glos health wont pay for it but has suggested insuman basal twice a day ,have had insulatard before without much success and cant see anything different between insuman and insulatard so is this just to shut me up for a bit or are there any differences ? :-\
without wanting to sound cheeky -- could you perhaps ask for a referral to an endocrinologist -- it slightly surprises me that a DNS is making decisions about choice of insulin and standing firm on what cannot be prescribed - not suggesting she is not qualified but you are obviously not settling down with the regime you are on

Glos trust transferred most of its patients back to gp care last year but dns said if new basal does not work she will need to refer me back to endo
Rough guide Patti
yesterday fasting 6 (no water pill)
Lunch 8.6
evening meal 14
bedtime 16.2
My view is need more insulin from midday which on mixed does not happen then that would knock evening meal readings down and so of course then the bedtime one too
Have been having a big big think and maybe because of the higher readings have become a bit sloppy with carbs and even odd apple etc wont be helping

in the past I have always found that if I am having a particularly rough time of it BG wise -- I try to go back the drawing board so to speak and start recording everything again.

it is only by having a full record of all BG readings carb intake and exercise , illness etc that one can then examine for any patterns that may lie hidden below the initial view of the naked eye as it were.

Well yes Paul - I agree with that sentiment - weigh stuff again etc and carb count as precisely as poss - which I must admit, falls by the wayside a LOT in the Sedge household!

Which Insuman is she putting you on Victoria - the Basal is it?  In which case she must be giving you the Rapid as well for blousing - or is it one of the mixes?

Sedge its just basal twice a day but she mentioned the rapid variety if the basal didnt do the trick
Being very very careful today to the point of hunger but numbers coming down helped no doubt by stress levels down to a more normal level ,bedtime story will tell if adjustments working
Must say wonder how two will work as profile shows 18-24 hour action. Is insuman actually back in chemists after the withdrawal earlier in the year

Is that all the testing you did?  Well.. lets see, you don't appear to have had any breakfast... breakfast does help to stop any DP rise.  Was the 8.6 before lunch or after and if it was after how long after?  Ditto with the evening meal test.. if it was 14 before and only 16.2 at bedtime that's a rise of only 2mmol/l but how long was it between eating and bedtime?

With mixed i understand you need to eat fixed carb meals. So it looks like you need to eat less carbs in lunch to me?

your meals don't sound overly heavy in carbs but your evening meal does look on paper to be a bit loaded -- plus there is the possibility that your insulin resistance changes as the day progresses
possibly reverse the lunch and evening meals and see if that changes the dynamic of BG's
