I'm a bit shocked today.... we've always done a fair bit of walking and so long as it's not too much of a hill-climb I've been able to walk fairly long distances at my own pace which is not as fast as some. However, this winter the weather has been dire and most of the time I've not wanted to go out of the house unless it's been necessary. Even to the extent that if I needed to go into town (a 10 - 15 minute walk depending on which end of town) Julian has run me down in the car. Anyway, today dawned mild and sunny, so we dropped everything in favour of a walk. As a rule I can walk to Mousehole no problem (a distance of about 3.5 miles) and after a bit of a sit down and a coffee I can walk back again. So off we set, by the time I had done about a mile and a quarter my legs were aching! Anyway, we had a jar of home made marmalade in the rucksack which we intended to drop off with an elderly friend of ours who lives in Newlyn, whom we've not seen for a few weeks. By the time we reached his place I'd had enough and was grateful for the offer of a cuppa before we turned around and walked back (total of 4 miles round trip). When we arrived in the centre of town lo and behold the "town bus" hove into view (amazing cos it only runs once an hour), so I gratefully flagged it down and we rode home, being dropped right in front of our house. I'm rather shocked though, cos at my age I can't afford to let fitness slip... so I am determined to get out and do more walking and STOP getting a lift into town!
BGs were great though, not gone higher than 5.9 after eating corned beef hash (made with potatoes and onions) with fried eggs for brunch, even with pumpy set to 70%.
