I recently saw a new Endo and while we were discussing diabetes management, I asked him "How does one successfully lose weight when you are trying to manage insulin at the same time"?  He looked me straight in the eye and said "You pretty much have to starve yourself."  I didn't really want to hear that as I have struggled with losing weight for a long time.  I am like many others and grow weary of the "trying and not seeing results" approach.  And yet I know I can't give up trying.

When I came back from holiday I did go very low carb and I lost the couple of lbs I had put on whilst away.  One thing I did notice, and it stood out a mile, was that my BGs were exemplary and I was using a LOT less insulin Kathy.  I'm afraid life has become more busy in the last couple of weeks + we had the long weekend away for the meet and I have slipped back into having a sandwich rather than a salad for lunch because it's quicker to prepare and eat, and new potatoes have reappeared on the evening menu.  BGs are not as good and I am using far more insulin.

Alan, welcome!

it was a shock for sure she was 44 same as me fit and healthy I met her on the 10th feb for our normal wed morning dog walk and she said that she had had a bad head for 3 days migraine type. On the Friday she went to her gp as her sight had gone funny and he sent her for a brain scan that showed 3 small tumers so a full body scan was done and more was found in her lungs and pelvic so they thought it was lung cancer. they did a biopsy and it came back as skin cancer but there was nothing on her skin to be found so they did a 2nd biopsy to be sure as treatment is different to lung cancer treatment and it was confirmed they still could not find the primary cancer. This was Friday 4th march 3 weeks after Dx  she died 2 days later on mothers day they had not even told there 14 year old at that point as they wanted to know all the facts and treatment plan first but never got chance.
so please every one use sun screen I know she always did check your moles so on

I restarted trying this weight loss  last weekend I have 2 weeks off work and using that to try and get going I find I eat so much better when I'm off work   and so far I'm doing ok my first weigh in is tomorrow

I am so sorry to hear about your friend, Sami and it's so sad that she wasn't able to tell her 14 year old about her illness.  It must have been an awful shock for friends and family when she passed away.

Good luck with your weight loss, Sami.

Excellent Sami, well done.

I am waiting to get a diagnosis and treatment for my 'believed' angina and then I can (hopefully) do some mild exercise.

Good luck for next week.

Well done Lucy!

I have been a total nutter today!  Just terribly pleased I have found a nice necklace to go with the dress I am wearing to a wedding next weekend + a top in the sale to wear to the "sunday funday" after the wedding.  So got a bit silly at the pub where we met with friends and had wine instead of spritzers.

That sounds daft but honestly finding anything remotely stylish in this end of beyond is amazing.

Week 2 on my weight loss journey and I'm 1.5lbs down this week a total of 20.5lbs down with 54lbs to go. I joined a new gym last Sunday that's a 5 min walk away so easy to get to and love it I even did a legs bums and tums class on Monday of course it hurt to walk or cough for 3 days lol. I still have a long way to go to get back were I was but taking one day at a time.
