Have to say Paul - my hospital were brill actually. The Ortho consultant insisted on a scale being set up whilst I was 'under' - but I played my face like HELL when I learned the rate of delivery was t be set at TWO UNITS AN HOUR !!
- and we'll adjust the glucose as necessary. They rang a diabetes consultant wasn't in, but the Senior research nurse was and he adjusted it down for me. Phew.
I was only on it until breakfast the following day from approx. 3 pm and I see no reason why you'd need any longer. The difficulty is always going to be - adjusting pump delivery to match hugely elevated BG - and it will be, it's a very long time to be hoisted up and hanging almost upside down (4 hours +/-) and you WILL have bruises you didn't expect in some rather odd places!
But hey! - hopefully you'll never even have to consider doing that - but if Mr Gleason decides to up the ante - getting the subject matter OUT asap is far far more important than rotten BG for a few das, in the overall scheme of things, I believe!
