I have done exactly nothing for Christmas! Not bought gifts or sent cards or even put up a tree! I admit I feel a little Scroogey but here we are 10 days away and I have yet to finish all my term papers, turn in my revised thesis, or an article I was supposed to have sent in months ago...let alone get a proper night's sleep! I feel like I can barely keep up with what I need to do tomorrow and the next day let alone plan any further ahead! Thankfully OH and I are on the same page, that all we want to do is sit on the couch and play video games and drink beer for Christmas - so that is what we will do! :D

Now at least I have done all the Xmas shopping I am going to do... we agreed some years ago with friends that unless we spend Xmas day together we will not exchange gifts, but instead will go out for a meal together.  So it was only stuff for J.  Spent 2nignts in Exeter and did a lot of eating out in restaurants so that was our main pressie to each other... and the rest is more or less stocking fillers.  Just need to wrap those.  House is decorated and looking rather spectacular if I say so myself.  However it’s a much smaller house than the old one and a little goes a long way,  We gave tons of pine garlands to the local church.

Looking forward to a number of parties between now and New Year.  I suppose I am an old softie where Xmas is concerned!

We have cut down on presents this year and the only ones I have bought so far are gift tokens for my grandchildren who will be 13 and 16 in a couple of months time.  They are the ideal gifts for them as they both like shopping for clothes.  I still have no idea what to get John and Gavin for Christmas.

We are trying to catch up with the decorating as stair, landing and bedroom carpets are being laid on Tuesday.  Once that is out of the way, we will get the Christmas tree and lights down from the loft and start to get into the festive mood.

We don't have any big parties and will not be going away.  Christmas day there will be three of us as my youngest son (now 40), lives at home.  On Boxing Day, a friend from our village will also be joining us.  On the 27th, our other son, his partner and our two grandchildren will be here and staying for a couple of days.

We don't do too many presents anyway, no more than three per person and that usually includes a book and a piece of clothing.  They are all going to the movies together on Christmas Eve to see Star Wars except for me as Lily is too young for all that yet so she gets to help me at home. I will cook our Christmas meal for them to come home to. I dont really want to see Star wars anyway lol. The only decoration I have so far is a wreath I made with my little boy for the front door, we used mistletoe, holly, dried orange slices and cinnamon to decorate it :)

Had a lovely afternoon in the pub yesterday, lots of people who we haven’t seen for ages because it was the Lantern parade at dusk.  Lots of fantastically shaped lanterns made by children guided by artists who visited their schools.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Totally the same. Where did the weeks go? I agreed months ago to have the family Christmas at my sister's place, about 220km from here. Also agreed to do some cooking to help out. Suddenly I need to go to town to buy ingredients and start work!
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

I definitely feel like Christmas is coming quickly this year.  I have no decorations nor sent any cards either.  We also have not put up a tree but expect we will have to do it soon.  Our grandson, who is 17 and has Autism, would be most upset if he walks into our house and doesn't see a tree with lights.

We cut back on presents this years too instead opting for the chance for both our sons to have a meal together at our house.  The biggest present hubby and I got for ourselves this year was a mini kitchen renovation.  We waited 47 years to have a new countertop and sink plus a new kitchen window installed.  We find it hard to believe it is our kitchen.
