Much the same as yours Paul!  Like you say, we usually disappoint ourselves.

Except back in 2001 and it took me until the 5th Jan to make the resolution and I resolved to stop smoking and I did, that very day.  I am not saying I have never had the odd puff since, always a quick puff of someone else's ciggy, but actually I overcame that and I have been a non smoker for 17 years with no desire ever to do it again.

I don't make resolutions either for the same reason, but I have decided that my next life lesson/mantra is "don't overachieve"! (Something my new team has been trying to get through to me!) Stick to what is humanly possible and stop beating myself up for not being able to do more than what I can actually do! Seems simple, but the simplest lessons are often the hardest to apply...

I have joined the Cut the Booze for January Lorraine Kelly project.  I have cut down dramatically on the carbs. Like Patti I gave up the dreaded weed many years ago and nowadays I couldn't even imagine taking a cigarette in my hand let alone have one.  I am exercising and will do so more when I get to Spain and the weather allows me to get out in the sun.  The old 'vino blanco secco' is my downfall and if I manage a month then I will not go back.

Unfortunately that will make me nearly perfect so I'll have to find another vice lol!

We have two bottles of wine in the house (apart from several bottles of Champagne which I can easily leave alone) and I have said when the wine is drunk then no more until Feb.

I have been a lazy writer for too long.

Not really a New Year's resolution. Last week I decided to start blogging again, mainly on the travel blog (I've visited the UK half a dozen times, the USA three or four and never posted a trip report plus a dozen other countries) but I also have a few to write on the diabetes blog.

The first new post is in the sig.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
