British Heart Foundation
« on: 30 March 2018, 02:20:50 PM »
Just had a knock on the front door, turned out to be a young man, one of a team of 4 no less, wanting us to sign up to standing orders for the British Heart Foundation (to help children or so he said).  I said that I found it iniquitous that the BHF (or any other charity) was paying people to canvass in this manner and that anyway I did not believe the Heart / cholesterol hypothesis the BHF is promoting, so the answer was a resounding NO.....  "and furthermore...." at which point he was backing off so rapidly he nearly fell down the steps!  I don't think they got much from our road, judging by the fact that none of the neighbours cars are outside their houses.

I was quite fascinated this morning when an advert for the BHF turned up on my FB newsfeed.  Can't find it now, but it was spouting the usual rubbish about cholesterol.  One response was heartening, from a woman who explained very concisely why chol is needed and that it doesn't cause heart disease, it merely tries to plaster over the inflammation that does cause heart disease.  But..... BHF are still firmly convinced chol is the evil monster here.... you would think they'd wake up... like DUK seem to be veeerrrry sloooooowly catching onto why carbs are the devil.
