Kinky cannula
« on: 09 July 2018, 12:42:05 AM »
So I changed my cannula yesterday. Everything was normal until later in the day just before bed. I test at elevenish and get 23.4. I then test for ketones and it comes back at 0.9

I insert a new cannula and wonder if I should have used different insulin. I pull the old one while wondering about this. I soon know it was almost certainly the cannula. It is almost knotted rather than just bent.

Not really sure how it happened. It might have happened at change but one bolus worked fairly normally.

Now I'm hungry but waiting for Bags too fall a good bit more before eating.

I recently also had a kinked cannula.  All I could figure out was that I must have been doing more bending as I was doing house chores in the utility room.  I hope your blood sugar comes down quickly.

Everyone is different and what works for me might not work for you.  The last time I had pizza, I did a 65/35 split over 3 hours and never spiked hardly at all.  Could I do it again that way, probably not.  But I did get lucky once.
