thanks for all the great replies
to celebrate yesterday I had a pump failure about 2pm -- fortunately realised by about 4:30pm with a BG of 17.7 -- we were at the seaside watching the kiddies play on the beach and dads trying to fly kites etc etc.
changed out the pump in the car and rage bolused
on the new pod ( i love this great diabetic slang )
was back down to 6.1 by 8pm -- had a light supper of cold chicken and a green salad ( very low carb )
Gramma Bear--- there have been so many things that have come along or changed --- but i suppose for me it has been the preventative medicines ( to prevent high blood pressure and protect kidneys)
that have effectively stopped me developing the kind of issues that were a certainty back in the 1970's
also -- eye treatments are another huge change ..........
laser and injections and vitrectomies
finally --- these latest tech things like Libre , dexcom ( and Miao Miao ) that can be used with a smart watch and remotely to other peoples phones are truly amazing for parents with young children
