Firstly I’m pleased to hear you are now able to get Novolog again.
As you can see from Lucy’s prices that she posted earlier, vials of insulin are much cheaper here. I am on Apidra @ £16 a vial. One vial lasts me approx 24 days, sometimes 30, so around £208 per annum or $234 at the current exchange rate. We apparently pay more than the rest of Europe.
I couldn’t find the group Seniors with Sensors, but I posted asking for facts in another US Facebook group run by an Endo. I’ve belonged to it since it started but don’t go there much as it never seems very friendly. Firstly I got told you admin that it was against the rules to be political and they don’t sign petitions. So I pointed out I was merely asking for facts like “how much is insulin in the USA” wanting relevant links. Then I was told “it varies depending on your insurer” and blaming the pharmacies. Various members were quite hostile. i was then told by their admin (the Endo) that prices were high in the US because “it costs a lot in research and development so the US drug companies and their US customers have to bear that, whilst countries like the U.K. have the benefits”. Positive rubbish! I gave up at that point.
I do feel for you and other US friends, but perhaps pressure would be better coming from a US source. I am sure you know people who are very articulate in your various forums and groups. i’d Seriously suggest you pass this link in to them. https://avaaz.org/page/en/It’s a pressure organisation what has been very successful in taking in large conglomerates such as the drug companies.
